The England team are in Portugal for four days of light exercise and relaxation with their families before the intensive training begins for the soccer championship, which is just three weeks away. While Sabrina and Charlotte enjoyed a dip in the sea in itsy bitsy bikinis and oversized shades, new arrival 17-year-old Melanie Slade was making the most of the glamorous scene as girlfriend of footballing's latest wunderkind, Theo Walcott. England's newest star player, Theo Walcott, took his pretty girlfriend Melanie along for the beach break. Blonde Melanie, dressed in denim shorts and white vest top, mixed happily on the beach with her more well-known counterparts, including Michael Owen's wife Louise, while also snatching time with her handsome boyfriend during a stroll in the sand.

Jermaine Jenas' girlfriend Sabrina Keogh and Jermaine Defoe's partner Charlotte Mears frolic in the surf as the England players prepare for the World Cup. Sven-Goran Eriksson has pinned his World Cup hopes on him. But while his club team mates battled it out for the Champions League title, Theo Walcott was not even on the subs' bench. The untested 17-year-old, who could be playing a key role for England in three weeks, was training with Sven's squad in Portugal – while Thierry Henry and the rest of the Arsenal took on Barcelona in Paris. Walcott even took time out to enjoy a stroll with girlfriend Melanie Slade. Meanwhile, in the run-up to last night's big match, Paris was awash with burgundy, blue and yellow, as tens of thousands of Arsenal and Barcelona fans brought a festival atmosphere to the city.
Organisers brushed off suggestions that the players would do better to save their energies for the tournament. They will be joined by David Blaine, the American illusionist; Ozzy Osbourne, the singer, and his wife Sharon, the X Factor judge; and Elle Macpherson, the supermodel. The party has a Spanish theme and will be held in a marquee the size of a football pitch. The DJ Chris Evans will greet the 350 guests, Gordon Ramsay will cook, and Robbie Williams and James Brown will provide the entertainment.
For the Belarus match Eriksson will rest some of those players coming off a hard season. He said that Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, David Beckham, Rio Ferdinand and John Terry would not play. Michael Owen, still striving for match fitness after his broken metatarsal, is a certain starter and there may be chances for teenagers Aaron Lennon and Theo Walcott at some stage in the match.
Eriksson said: "He is good enough to be where he is and everyone we have talked to has said he will handle it. He looks very calm."
